How To Get A Tennessee Real Estate License
STEP 1: Basic Eligibility
To begin your journey in real estate, ensure you meet the basic requirements. You must be at least 18 years old and have either a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification. Citizenship or lawful alien status in the U.S. is also necessary.
STEP 2: Pre-Licensing
The next step is to complete the 60-Hour Real Estate Principles Course, a foundational program that covers essential real estate concepts and practices. This course must be successfully completed before you can register for the state licensing examination.
STEP 3: State Exam
After finishing your pre-licensing education, register for and pass the Tennessee Affiliate Broker Licensing Exam. The exam, conducted by PSI Exams, requires prior submission of an application listing your educational achievements to the Tennessee Real Estate Commission (TREC). A passing score of 70% or higher is necessary to move forward.
STEP 4: New Affiliates Course
Following the state exam, you are required to complete this 30-hour Course for New Affiliates. This course, mandated by TREC, aims to provide deeper insights and ongoing knowledge crucial for a successful career in real estate. This is where we come in! We offer this course via a simple and easy pen-and-paper method where you complete the course in our custom workbook, and then send it back to be submitted for completion.
STEP 5: License Application
The final step involves applying for your Affiliate Broker License through the Tennessee Real Estate Commission. Your application should include a photograph (which you’ll receive upon successful completion of the licensing exam), proof of your educational accomplishments, evidence of high school graduation, and confirmation of errors and omissions insurance coverage.
