Step-by-Step Guide to Licensure:
- Meet Basic Requirements:
- Age and Education: You must be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Background Check: If you have any felony or misdemeanor convictions involving financial crimes, there must be a two-year gap since the end of your sentence or conviction.
- Complete Required Pre-Licensing Education:
- 60-Hour Pre-Licensing Course: You will need to complete a 60-hour Basic Principles course. Click here to register for an online self-paced version of this course. Pinnacle Real Estate Academy offers an at-home study program for the 30-hour New Affiliate TN course. Our custom-made workbook allows you to learn at your own pace.
- Final Exams: Each course concludes with a final exam, requiring a minimum passing score of 70%.
- Pass the Tennessee Real Estate Affiliate Broker Exam:
- Schedule the Exam: After completing the 90 hours of education (or after the 60-hour course if you feel ready), schedule your exam with PSI. They can be contacted at (855) 340-3710 for scheduling questions.
- Exam Structure: The exam consists of 120 questions, divided into 80 national and 40 state-specific questions, with a 70% passing score requirement.
- Application Photo and Fingerprinting:
- Photo: Get your application photo taken at the testing center upon passing the exam.
- Fingerprinting: You must also complete fingerprinting for a background check.
- Obtain Errors and Omissions Insurance:
- Secure proof of an errors and omissions insurance policy, a requirement for all Tennessee real estate agents.
- Complete the Online Application:
- Once you meet all the prerequisites, complete your application online.
- Choose a Sponsoring Broker:
- Consider factors like the broker’s reputation, commission structure, technological advancements, and support for agents when making your choice.
